[FreeDNS] There is nothing wrong with this service.
To all those who keep complaining:
1. ZA.net NIC is a free service, with free services compassion, and patience are
necessary so if you can't wait, or you don't have the technical know how
just pay your ISP the fee and let them set you up a .co.za domain.
2. I found ZA.net NIC to be both prompt and professional, while yes a week
is normally considered a long time to wait for a domain name, it's also
R200 - R300 rand less, so if a week is worth more than R200 to you you
goto .co.za once more.
3. NEW and UPDATE to your domains don't make problems out of thin air (99.99%)
of the time it's someting you're doing wrong, so just go back to the
beginning and check everything is right (including that your DNS server
is TRUELY working).
4. If you've moved a domain to a professional service why not just buy the domain
at .co.za too. Then update your old web page to the new web page.
Things like these should usually be planned 6 months in advance at NOT
be a last minute decision. You can run both pages at the same time and
it's really not a problem, 6 months would normally give anyone enough
time to update your Registrar records.
5. Remember: These people do this service for free, they also warned that there
are no guarantees! Don't moan at them because you can't have them fired.
You could always offer a donation, because most non-profit organisations
take them, and since usually there is no motivation but goodwill, I am
sure they would be more than willing to help you out.
