G'day everyone Here's just a question for general discussion. Why do you think people want to use FreeDNS, or why do you think people should rather not use FreeDNS? In other words, what are the pros and cons (but viewed subjectively instead of objectively)? Pros: * It's free (and so no worrying about payments) * It shows your support of the libre culture * You might not be identified by bots as South African Cons: * Updating your nameservers can take long * You might not be identified by bots as South African * Confusion over the phone when you say your domain name Your comments? As for confusion over the phone, I have actually experienced this when a client of the business I work for, phoned in his e-mail address, and the secretary wrote such-and-such.co.za, and after much confusion of undeliverable mail, it turned out to have been such-and-such.za.net. Often, people listen with only half an ear when they're expecting to hear a certain something. :-) As for the bot identification, one of my web sites was rejected by a South African search engine/directory because the domain name doesn't end on "za". But after a nice e-mail to the directory's administrator, explaining what the FreeDNS is, sites from za.net and za.org are now also considered "South African" by that directory's bot.
