RE: [FreeDNS] Why..

I'm not really sure that anything's stopping you from registering
yourname.za. Is there?
Nevertheless, I personally like to be able to get a general idea of the
nature of a website/company from its domain name, and I know I tend to get
very irate when I see people registering private websites under .co.za
(Which is why I like the .za.net concept so much! I only wish it could've
been .net.za) or non-profits under .co.za. I get equally irate when SA (Or
UK, or German, etc.) companies register .com's, but that's another debate.

A place for everything, and everything in its place. :-P

Your information is correct, but I think the OP's question was why don't we
have names like in the Netherlands where you can get yourname.nl. Hence,
why does it have to be yourname.co.za instead of simply yourname.za.
