There's also talk of a net.za. (No, not .za.net <g>) school.za is
starting to become popular as well, but it essentially has the same purpose as
edu.za. (As opposed to .ac.za, which specifically refers to colleges and
universities, edu.za refers to primary and secondary schools [Private and
Government]).
In the
case of the US, any address without a country code is assumed to be in the US -
in the old days, the US was the only country online, so they didn't need country
codes. So .co.za is the equivalent of a .com in the states, .org.za is the
equivalent of a .org in the states, etc.

no.. actualy south africa has the .za
domain.
co is short for company i think.
you also get gov.za org.za as far as i
know
