Hmmmm, This is most Bizarre. I can resolve the domains from the configured servers. But if I try a different server, eg. ns2.mweb.co.za or ns1.iafrica.com. I get my other domains to resolve, eg drastico.za.net and dragonzone.za.net, which are hosted by the same set of DNS servers. But pagan.za.net doesn't resolve. You'll also find that you can now do a Zone transfer on wicca.za.net also. any ideas??? regards Giles -----Original Message----- From: Johann Visagie [mailto:wjv@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 20 April 2001 09:39 To: freedns@xxxxxx Subject: Re: [FreeDNS] Domains not resolving properly G on 2001-04-20 (Fri) at 09:24:47 +0200: > > I am faced with with a very strange and confussing problem this morning. Yeah, I often wake up confussed. Sometimes even concussed. :-) > I noticed that certain mails were not arriving in some of my mailboxes. > Apone further investigation I discovered that 2 domain that I host mail for, > 1 of which I host DNS for, were not resolving correctly. > > The domains in question are pagan.za.net and wicca.za.net. I can resolve both domains. More advanced diagnostics with dnswalk(1) reports no problems for pagan.za.net. The authoritative servers for wicca.za.net don't allow me zone transfers, though, so I can't test that domain any further. > When I query a ROUTE server I get the za.net NS listing. Apone querying > these servers I don't get any response for pagan.za.net while wicca.za.net > does resolve. Pesky things, those "route" servers. Again, I have no problem resolving both NS and MX records for your domains using za.net's authoritative servers. > As far as I can tell All registration details on the WHOIS queries are > correct. All details on the registered NS are correct, yet I am still > experiencing this problem. Check the stupid things first: Is your resolver library configured correctly. Is the named on the box you tried to resolve from running? Etc. :-) If the problem persists... I'll probably be as baffled as you. :-) -- V _____________________________________________________ FreeDNS ZA NiC - free domain names freedns@xxxxxx Archive: http://www.za.net/freedns/ _____________________________________________________ FreeDNS ZA NiC - free domain names freedns@xxxxxx Archive: http://www.za.net/freedns/
