Most of my time as sysadmin is also spent dealing with abusive
behaviour, and even while maintaining acceptable levels of service,
the most resources (bandwidth and CPU) are consumed by email spam and
automated attempts to spam issue trackers, forums, etc.

It's a crying shame.
