RE: [FreeDNS] Domain Registration Error
Umm, the original question came from a guy in Oudtshoorn who complained that
ZA NIC was rejecting his DNS servers (that's the place where he will host
his WEB SITE, or forward from) - which are valid, because I did a tracert
and they exist.
Some bright spark asked him why he didn't host his WEB SITE in South Africa.
ZA NIC DOES NOT HOST WEB SITES.
They are just the REGISTRAR of the ZA.NET and ZA.ORG domain.
Go and read the documentation at www.za.net. Kind of clear about what they
do and offer!
It's like MasterCard. Just because Standard Bank gives you a credit card, it
doesn't mean that MasterCard gives you money.
Cheers

BTW: I had a teacher named Ken Alston when I was in STD 5. Any relation.

Which part of that has anything to do with anything I said, much less
where hosting your DNS matters?
Last time I checked the root za.net zone was hosted by Plig. And these
DNS servers, the webserver, this mailing list and whatever else you
decide to conjure up, are hosted in the UK
man traceroute
man dig
man whois
etc..
