RE: [FreeDNS] DNS Probs
Ok this is weird. I agree with you Andre, the A records for ns1 and ns2 are
not present in the felxi.com zone itself. The output below is the same for
ns2.felxi.com.
$host -l felxi.com ns1.felxi.com
felxi.com. NS ns1.felxi.com.
felxi.com. NS ns2.felxi.com.
felxi.com. A 66.90.71.211
ftp.felxi.com. A 66.90.71.211
ice.felxi.com. A 66.90.71.211
localhost.felxi.com. A 127.0.0.1
order.felxi.com. A 66.90.71.211
www.order.felxi.com. A 66.90.71.211
As we have seen from the SOA record, the zone has been updated yesterday 4
times already (assuming normal serial number usage). Hence why we can still
resolve ns1 and ns2 due to it being cached on servers. When I query ns1 and
ns2 for their own records, I get failure too.
$ host -t A ns1.felxi.com ns1.felxi.com
ns1.felxi.com A record not found at ns1.felxi.com, server failure
Another point worth noting, the PTR records for the nameservers are
incorrect as well.
$ host -t PTR 66.90.71.211
Name: .
Address: 66.90.71.211
$ host -t PTR 66.90.71.243
Name: .
Address: 66.90.71.243
Regards,
- Craig.
