Dear all, It has come to our attention recently that a South African based service provider and major registrar of za.net and za.org domains has recently stopped providing all service to their customers. Normally this wouldn't be a problem as the true domain owners could simply shift the domains to another provider, however a problem has arised in that the ISP in question has put themselves down as the "Domain Owner" (both in the "Registered for" section and the Contacts sections) for many of the domains they registered on behalf of their customers. This is a really tricky issue and we have to be very very careful when changing legal ownership of domain names like this. I'm sure you can appreciate that and wouldn't want anything less for any of your domains either. If you want to claim ownership over the domains in question we will need a signed and witnessed statement (witnessed by a recognised legal entity such as COMMISSIONER OF OATHS/KOMMISSARIS VAN EDE) from you stating that you are the true owner of the domain name and that you want it transferred into your name. (Or the same from your clients, if the domain name is to be transferred into their name). I believe you can find such a legal entity at your local police station without an appointment, just ask at the front desk. This declaration can be faxed to us to speed up the process, but we will need the original copy sent by post too. As soon as we receive this faxed declaration you can send in a manual modify request and we can process your changes (see http://www.za.net/faq.html#noemail for information about how to send in a manual modify request). NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE :- Please do NOT send in manual modify requests without the declaration mentioned above if your name does not currently appear anywhere on the domain name records (you can check these records at http://www.za.net/whois.html) as any such requests will have to be rejected by us to protect domain name owners I know this sounds like a lot of hassle, but we honestly believe this is the best way to protect the interests of all parties involved. - Christiaan -- ZA NiC Hostmaster http://www.za.net/ hostmaster@xxxxxxxxxx Tel/Fax: +44 1442 240870 _____________________________________________________ FreeDNS ZA NiC - free domain names freedns@xxxxxx Archive: http://www.za.net/freedns/
