My God! Two in one day!

*deep breath*

OK, here it comes, niiiice and slow. Are we all paying attention? Right.
This is a mailing list. Can you all say that after me? A "mailing list".

The purpose of this mailing list is to discuss administrative issues
pertaining to the free domain name service provided by ZA NiC. In the
unfortunately rather likely event that you've never heard of ZA NiC, you can
find out a lot more about the service at http://www.za.net/

That is a URL; you type it into your web browser. Anyway...

The fact that you receive the postings to the FreeDNS mailing list means that
you at some stage "subscribed" to it. Big word that, but read it a few
times.

To do this, you sent some mail to <freedns-request@xxxxxx> and in that mail
you had the world "subscribe". Now, that's rather a lot of keys to press in
the right order accidentally, so I'm reasonably sure you actually meant to
do it at the time.

As it happens, FreeDNS is what those stuck-up techincal type people call a
"low volume" list. This means that _not a lot of people post to it_! No,
really!

You probably subscribed quite a few months ago, and then forgot allll about
it until somebody posted a request to the list once again. Quite
understandable; happens all the time. *cough*

Now, seeing that you sent a message containing the word "subscribe" to
<freedns-request@xxxxxx> in order to get ON the list, could it possibly, just
*possibly* be that you can get OFF it again by sending the word "unsubscribe"
to <freedns-request@xxxxxx>? Is that stretching thigns a bit too far? Nooo,
that is quite correct, that is *indeed* how one would get off the list.
Isn't the universe a wonderful, fun-filled place?

Since I'm being especially nice today, I'll share a little secret with you.
You can also unsubscribe from the FreeDNS list by going to this URL:

  http://www.za.net/mailman/listinfo/freedns

(Aside to the list administrator: The images at the bottom of the listinfo
page are borked.)

Have a better one,
-- V
